Question of the Day--Women at Occupy Wall Street

What are the specific issues women should group together over in discussing, making demands or boycotting over as a group?

Here's an initial list I constructed: 1. Women's Work (pay, benefits and workplace issues).  2. Childcare for all Mothers. 3. Housing for Single Women. 4. Women's Reproductive Rights. 5. Women's Safety. 6. Women and the Arts. 7. Health Care for Women. 8. Women and Social Conventions. 9. Women in the Professions. 10. Women and Education.

The issues need to be framed and voiced. For example, each issue should be broken down into its offshoots or specifics. Then into its demands. There's a lot of cardboard to go around, a lot of blogs to be written, many videos to be presented and so on. I guess it starts at the general assembly. For example, how many working mothers are without child care right now? That number on a sign works. But what about boycotting toy companies and stories, candy company and stores, etc., in the name of women's reproductive rights or right to child care or health care? I'm just brainstorming here.

It is not so much that I want women's issues to be the focus of the demonstrations -- in fact I do not. I want constitutional amendments that take the millionaires out of congress.

But I want the campaigns to understand the problems women have to deal with in society. I want the tactics not to endanger women or make them sacrifice their self to the careers of male organizers. And I want women PAID to organize, not, as usual, to do all the work while the boys take all the credit.

I am developing a campaign JUST for the fun of it and talking with THESE PEOPLE ABOUT IT. If you signed the petition you have probably heard the news.

My idea is to organize constitutional lawyers to do teach ins on the constitutional amendment process--- training state organizers in each of 8 regions. There is more but I am bored talking about it already. The ows demonstrations are definitly a part of it. A second revolution - class warfare but this time we fight back.

I had to correct all the excited errors in this comment. I just got what you are saying in your comment above (we are in different dimensions) and I do agree. You are saying when OWS is talking about the economic disparities that women's economic obstacles should be on the signs to illustrate the class warfare they have to fight every day.

YES! Not as the end goal of the movement but as an educational tool to prepare for the great shift in class consciousness that will result in constitutional amendments. YES!

BTW - who has the time to spend all day in those general assemblies? Trust babies? just saying.......
